CTC: Richard, tell us about virtualDCS and therefore the ethos of the corporate, what makes virtualDCS unique?

CTC: what's your background in I.T.?

When I was 11 my family bought me a Sinclair ZX81 computer and my fascination with the appliance of technology has never stopped since. As technology evolved, so did my interest and in 1994 I graduated from University with a ‘computing in business’ degree. Since then I even have held a spread of positions including I.T. Manager at a Textile Company, implementing information systems for BT and ICL, and acting as development manager for Planet Online and Majestic Design, where I assisted within the creation of online web solutions.

Working at ICM from 2000, I developed a robust interest in Hosting I.T. Services and therefore the benefits of virtualization technologies. Harnessing this experience, I used to be involved in several projects for VMware and Microsoft which have enabled the Cloud to be what we see today.

In 2008, I made a decision to make virtualDCS with the main target of providing top quality solutions for businesses, utilizing virtualization technologies to realize availability and adaptability, which was simply cost-prohibitive when using physical technologies.

CTC: What services and products do virtualDCS offer?

CTC: an issue we ask everyone, what's your definition of Cloud Computing?

If I'm giving a definition of pure Cloud Computing, then to me it's defined as I.T. services that are delivered to finish users as utilities, like electricity and mobile phones currently are.

CTC: If you'll change one thing within the world, what wouldn't it be?

I’d like to stop companies from creating products that are designed to easily break, in order that they will charge to repair them or sell them on again. Distribution wants to assist in times of turmoil

Some of you'll have read by now that Doyenz is exiting the united kingdom market, and at very short notice. Doyenz will not be providing or supporting the iCloud backup and recovery service within the UK by the top of the week, 10th August 2012. I received email confirmation myself this morning. Our UK resellers and MSPs were emailed directly at an equivalent time to notify them of the change.

Based on many of the comments I even have read within the media, on Twitter, and calls I even have received into the office today, I also appreciate how extremely frustrating this is often for our reseller and MSP partners.

it is tough for international firms to interrupt into the united kingdom market, particularly during a poor economy, and sadly, I think this won't be the sole withdrawal we'll see over the subsequent 12-24 months. It does happen.

Direct telephone and email support

A migration path [where possible] for resellers to figure with alternative cloud suppliers

Obviously, I’m biased given my role at Blue Solutions, but I do think it's really important for distribution and therefore the reseller community to stay together in times of turmoil like Doyenz’s exit, we would like to assist, and that we will help wherever possible.

Creative agencies can run and scale their digital projects within the cloud with full control

But for all the promise of utility computing via the cloud, many creative agencies – including web designers and developers, marketing agencies, and ad agencies – are struggling to understand the advantages. information technology degrees they need found themselves struggling to quickly and cost-effectively manage on-demand computing resources to serve a worldwide audience.

Those within the creative agency fields need to adjust their business models to stay pace with technology changes. For web designers and developers, traditional desktop software will eventually get replaced by cloud applications. Licensing will change to a pay as you go model and investment are going to be made during this instead of existing desktop software like Adobe’s product suite.

The key to tapping into the subscription-based revenues enabled by web-related offerings like hosting and program optimization (SEO) is to efficiently and economically deploy infrastructure to support campaigns and promotions. After all, tremendous revenues are at stake.
